FAQ

It’s for just about anyone age 13 and older, who are looking for a little help.  We design our groups from a mental health perspective to help explore road blocks, thoughts, emotions, and plans in a supportive setting.

Nope.  We are licensed therapists, but this is not therapy.  It is therapeutic and may help with some of the same concerns you might see a therapist for.  However we do not diagnose you here, we do not make treatment plans, we don’t send notes to insurance or deal with medical necessity.  This is about support, psychoeducation, and coaching.

You can go to therapy as well as do this, and if we suspect it might be beneficial, we might even recommend it to you.  There are also therapists that encourage their clients to come to us as a resource.

Nope.  Not our area, and not what we do.  However, we are still clinicians.  If you have questions about getting on mental health meds or want a referral, our other group does that (if you are in Texas).  While we are not assessing for medical need during group, if we suspect it would be helpful we may still let you know.  We do not recommend specific medications, and the suggestion to look into meds does not constitute a clinical opinion (since you are not our clinical client).  It’s more just a helpful idea.

No.   We are not seeing people in that capacity and will not bill insurance or provide out of network benefits.  That requires a lot of expensive stuff that would raise prices and goes against our basic premise of being a sub-therapeutic service.

Yes it is serious, no it’s not just an excuse to play games.

Just between the founding clinicans, we have decades of experience backing up what we do, and believe this is a good way to do it.  We also don’t play anything that will distract us too much from the real purpose, helping people.  Animals and people learn via play, we think that works here too.

That’s not really a question.

Feeling alone and socially isolated is bad, depression is bad.  Games are a medium, like TV or Movies.  We use this medium to help people with those other things. Besides 83.1% of the internet using population  (global) plays video games.  We might as well use that for good (also fun).

Yes.  We do not bring on anyone who is not a licensed clinician.  That means, Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, the sort of people that can already run groups.  We just get the best ones that we can find that also are gamers.  Each clinician will have their letters after their name so you can check.
